The Richmond International Raceway first hosted dirt auto races in the late 1940's after its original incarnation as a horse race track. The NASCAR Winston Cup Series races have been held at the raceway since 1953 when Lee Petty won the first that April. Located on the State Fairgrounds in Virginia, the original half-mile dirt track was paved over in 1968, only to be totally reconstructed 20 years later.

In 1988, the Richmond International Raceway was reconfigured as a .75 mile track with a new constant 60 foot track width and 14-degree banked turns. The track re-opened to the public in September, 1988, providing a complete view of the racing surface from almost all of its 83,000 seats. In fact, the raceway has more seats than any other Virginia sports complex. Twice annually, it attracts crowds in excess of 150,000 to its NASCAR Winston Cup Series race weekends. Richmond International Raceway is now considered one of the most modern speedways on the NASCAR Winston Cup tour.

The Richmond International Raceway simulation is reserved exclusively for members of our Drivers Club.
