What:
Race against one of the hottest stock-car drivers in America,
18-year-old Shelby Howard, and hang around for interviews. There will
be prizes for top finishers. Shelby Howard will return to Talladega Superspeedway on Sept. 27 to compete in the ARCA RE/MAX Series Food World 300. It will be his second race at Alabama's 2.66-mile tri-oval. At 17, Shelby Howard became the youngest winner in ARCA RE/MAX Series history with a win at Salem Speedway earlier this season in April. He finished 5th in ARCA RE/MAX Series points in his first full season on tour in 2002. Over the first 14 races, the Greenwood, Indiana resident has qualified in the Top 5 six times. He was on the outside of the front row at Kansas, where he wound up winning his second race. Howard has only qualified outside the Top 10 twice this year. He has recorded eight Top 5 finishes, five of which he finished third or higher. Only points leader and four-time defending ARCA RE/MAX champion Frank Kimmel has more Top 5s this season. Add to that nine Top 10s and only once did Howard finish outside the Top 15 when he was running at the end of the race. In his first race at Talladega last fall, he proved he wasn't superstitious, starting 13th and finishing 13th in the 113-lap Food World 300. Please
