Mark took his first break since noon. He got out of the car to stretch his legs and thank all of the people for coming out and supporting him in his mission to raise money for the March of Dimes. All day long people came out and donated money for the cause. Even if the people were just stopping in to say hi, they would pull out money to donate. We also had a lot of people come in and race against Mark to give him a challenge.

4:00pm Oct 27th
Some of our league guys came in throughout the day to check out Mark wondering if he was any good. They also stayed a while and gave Mark some competition and a chance to run with the big boys. Mark rose to the challenge and did pretty well. Mark's best lap time on Atlanta was a 28.08 (I hope it would be that good since he ran over 3000 miles). All and all over the whole time period and with all of Marks pre-event practice, he became a great and knowledgeable driver. He just might be good enough to win some competitions and compete in the Action Cup. On the left is Steve "The Runner" Molnar and to the right of Mark is Todd Bradey, a couple of the pros here at the Katy Speedway that stopped to race Mark and give him a run for his money.

During the event Mark was not allowed to leave the car until each race was over and then he'd get right back into the next race. So where did this leave him time to eat? He just improvised, and took it in the car with him. In case you are wondering, Mark is a very clean guy; he didn't leave any crumbs in the cars. Mark knew he could not get out of the car and go grab something to eat so he had one hand on the wheel and the other of the munchies. But don't ever do what Mark is doing here; he is a "Professional."

8:45pm Oct 27th
It has almost been nine hours into the event and Mark still shows no signs of fatigue. When Mark came to us and said that he wanted to do it, he told us that the only way he would be able to stay in the car for the full 24 hours is that we had to let him bring along his favorite sweater and pillow with him, so whenever he felt tired he could bring it in the car and snuggle up with it. Doesn't he look so cute? Mark needs all the rest that he can get because we have our Midnight Madness race coming up in a couple of hours.

5:45pm Oct 27th
Six hours into the event, a local race fan shows up to give Mark a box of "power bars," hoping that it will give him the energy to beat all the kids that showed up before heading out the movies and going to the club next door. Even though it was 6:00 pm and he was going on straight adrenaline by this point, he did not even blink an eye while he was taking the checkered flag race after race. Mark was also signing autographs for all the faithful fans that were watching.
